About our sleep
Designed for night changes
Sleepwear is judged at three in the morning, in the dark, with one hand. That is the brief we design to. Our sleepsuits use a two-way zip so you can open from the bottom and change a nappy without uncovering your baby's chest and shoulders, and every zip has a covered chin guard and a fabric tab at the top so metal never touches skin. Nightgowns with an elasticated open hem are the fastest option of all for the newborn weeks. Poppers, where we use them, are nickel-free and spaced so they cannot be misaligned by one. Nothing in this category rustles, crackles or needs to be pulled over a sleeping head.
Warmth, layering and fabric
The range covers light single-layer jersey for warm rooms and brushed or quilted weights for cooler nights, all in GOTS-certified organic cotton. As a rough guide, a room at 20–22°C suits a light sleepsuit or a 1.0 tog sleep bag over a short-sleeve bodysuit; below 18°C, move to a warmer weight or add a long-sleeve base layer rather than a loose blanket. Sleep bags are cut narrow at the neck and armholes and roomy at the hips so legs can move freely, and they have a full-length zip that opens from the base. Footed styles have a non-slip sole once your baby starts to stand.
Care and how many to buy
Wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle and dry low; the brushed fabrics stay soft longest when you skip the softener. Most families keep four to five sleepsuits and two sleep bags in rotation, which covers a laundry cycle and an unexpected change of everything. All of our sleepwear is pre-washed, tested through thirty laundry cycles before it goes on sale, and sized from newborn to 24 months with the same generous cut as the rest of the collection.
